Leica APO – Summicron – M 35 f/2 ASPH.

For pictures that make history.

Tradition of excellence.
Leica M lenses have always been known to be among the best in the world. The APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 certainly continues this tradition. At the same time, its extraordinary optical performance places the new addition in a league of its own – even among M lenses. With a close focusing distance that is rarely found within the M-System, exceptionally sharp rendition, distinctive bokeh and high light sensitivity, this masterpiece of German engineering enables photographers to work even more creatively – not just with the Leica M , but also with the Leica SL2 and SL2-S.

The APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. sets new benchmarks
Four aspherical surfaces, special glass materials for apochromatic correction and the floating element are leading to an extremely high optical performance, a close focus and a very compact housing.

Closest focus in M-lens portfolio – Up to 0.3 m
The APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. quite literally goes one step further, by facilitating true close-up shots. It’s minimum focusing distance of just 0.3m surpasses all previous M-lenses. Already at the closest focusing distance, the lens convinces with a sensational sharpness performance and detail accuracy without disturbing the delicate bokeh at open aperture.

APO Quality
Six elements are made of glasses with anomalous partial dispersion, which not only reduce chromatic aberrations to almost zero, but also provide apochromatic correction – a quality that is rarely found in lenses of this focal length. The APO correction stands out especially when the contrast between light and dark is high.

Constructional Details
The exceptional performance capability is made possible by the elaborate lens design, combined with the high-precision manufacturing processes at the Leica production plant.
The ten lens elements are divided into five groups; three elements feature aspherical surfaces (one of them on both sides). Six elements are made of glasses with anomalous partial dispersion, that reduce any chromatic aberrations.
